Racial Profiling 
in the Chippewa Valley

Four panelists will speak about Racial Profiling in the Chippewa Valley:  
  • Eau Claire Chief of Police Jerry Matysik will address issues of unconscious bias and police training.  
  • Caitlin Lee, former president of the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association, will speak about discrimination experienced by Hmong residents.  
  • Selika Ducksworth-Lawton, Chancellor’s Fellow for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at UW-Eau Claire, will provide information on African- Americans’ experience in the Chippewa Valley.  
  • Eric Kasper, Political Science professor at UW-Barron and a municipal judge in Rice Lake, will talk about problems experienced by Somali and Latino residents in the Barron/Rice Lake area.
A discussion period will follow the panel presentation, which is sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union—Chippewa Valley Chapter, and the Social Responsibility Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation.
