Annual Membership Meeting

Minutes – October 19, 2010

UU Congregation Building

421 S. Farwell St.

Present: David Rice (president), Myron Buchholz, Shu-Chuan Cheng, Mildred Larson, Nick Passell, Dan Perkins, Stephanie Turner, Eleanor Wolf

David Rice called the meeting to order at 6:30.

Minutes: The minutes of the Annual Membership Meeting from September 30, 2009 were approved as written.

Treasurer’s report: Nick Passell, Treasurer, reported a balance of $955.67. Nick also reported that revenue for the annual dinner was greater than expenses.

Election of board members: Three sitting board members were re-elected: Nick Passell, David Rice, and Myron Buchholz. A new member, Zoe Bowman, was also elected to the board.

Mildred Larson noted that two officer positions are up for election at the November meeting: President and Treasurer

State and Local Issues: Eleanor Wolf reported that the annual meeting of Freedom from Religion will meet this fall, and that she is interested in coordinating with leaders from this organization to put on an educational program on church/state separation issues in Chippewa Falls. She requested that this item be added to the agenda of the next meeting.

Mildred Larson reported that the ACLU of Wisconsin plans to file anamicus brief in a Freedom from Religion lawsuit in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals regarding the National Day of Prayer. Chris Ahmuty, Executive Director of the ACLU of Wisconsin, clarified the function of the amicusbrief.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30, with the annual program immediately to follow.
